[:es]Mi nombre es Matthew O’Connell, soy originario del Reino Unido y cuando llegué a Costa Rica para mis vacaciones en Tortuguero de inmediato me enamoré por completo de este paraíso cargado de aventuras y lugares exóticos.
Desde que pisé Tortuguero y me alojé en el Hotel Manatus se me presentaron un sinfín de actividades de aventura para descargar adrenalina, conocer animales exóticos y maravillarme con las bellezas naturales de Costa Rica.
En Tortuguero, ubicado en el paradisíaco Caribe de Costa Rica, realicé varios tours y actividades que me hicieron querer quedarme… ¡de por vida!
Tours para apreciar las maravillas de la naturaleza:
Hice un tour en bote por los hermosos Canales de Tortuguero y mientras el guía nos contaba sobre la extensión de los canales de agua, a lo lejos vi un enorme cocodrilo que tomaba el sol tranquilamente a la orilla de un pantano. Casi agoto la tarjeta de memoria de mi cámara, pues supe que cuando volviera a casa no me creerían lo que había visto.
De regreso en el hotel me esperaba otro tour, esta vez a las playas deTortuguero donde tuve la suerte de ver en vivo el anidamiento de tortugas, un espectáculo único en el mundo: miles de tortugas de mar llegan a la playa y elijen un lugar para cavar y depositar sus huevos; luego, regresan al mar dejando atrás su legado.
Tortuguero es hogar de animales exóticos que nunca antes había visto, como los monos aulladores y el perezoso de tres dedos, un animal que pasa la mayor parte de su día colgando de los árboles, gracias a sus largas garras.
Tours y actividades de aventura en Tortuguero:
Mis vacaciones en Costa Rica me tenían preparada otra actividad de aventura, pero esta vez en alta mar. La pesca deportiva en Tortuguero atrae cada año a miles de turistas de todo el mundo, como yo, que vemos en esta actividad una forma de descargar la adrenalina acumulada.
Si a vos, como a mí, te encanta salir a caminar y descubrir rincones únicos, te recomiendo un tour para escalar el Cerro Tortuguero, un imponente volcán apagado de más de 100 metros de altura. Admito que llegué agotado a la cima, pero la vista es espectacular.
Luego me relajé paseando en kayak por los canales de agua y culminé mis aventuras con un tour de canopy donde literalmente volé sobre las copas de los árboles… ¡sin duda una experiencia grandiosa!
Regresé a casa con la meta de volver pronto a Tortuguero, pero esta vez con mi familia completa, para que también ellos experimenten unas vacaciones de aventura y conozcan un rincón de este hermoso país centroamericano.

Since I arrived to Tortugueroand stayed at the Manatus Hotel I realized that there were many adventure activities to release adrenaline, meet exotic animals and marvel with the natural beauties of Costa Rica.
At Tortuguero, located in the paradisiacal Caribbean of Costa Rica, I experienced several adventures that made me want to stay … forever!
Tours to appreciate the wonders of Nature:
I took a through the beautiful Tortuguero Canals and while the tour guide was telling us about the extension of the water canals, at the distance I saw a huge crocodile sunbathing on the edge of a swamp. I almost ran out the memory of my camera because I knew that when I returned home no one would believe what I saw.
Back at the hotel another tour was waiting for me, this time to the beaches ofTortuguero, where I was lucky to see live the nesting and spawning of sea turtles, a unique spectacle in the world. Thousands of turtles come to the beach and choose a place to dig and lay their eggs; then they return to the sea leaving behind their legacy.
Tortuguero is the home of exotic animals that I´ve never seen before! Like the howler monkeys and the three-toed sloth, an animal that spends most of its day hanging from the trees, thanks to its long claws.
Adventure tours and activities in Tortuguero:
During my vacations in Costa Rica I had prepared another adventure activity, but this time at sea. Sport fishing in Tortuguero attracts each year thousands of tourists from around the world, like me, who see in this activity a way to release the accumulated adrenaline.
If you, like me, love to hike and discover unique places, I recommend you a tourto climb the Cerro Tortuguero, an imposing extinct volcano of over 100 meters high. I admit I was exhausted when I arrived to the top, but the view was spectacular.
I also did a kayaking tour along the water canals and culminated my adventures with a canopy tour where I literally flew over the treetops… no doubt a great experience!
I went back home with the goal of returning soon to Tortuguero, but this time with my whole family, so they can also have an exotic vacation and discover a corner of this beautiful Central American country.
