El museo de las tortugas se encuentra en el Centro de Visitantes de la Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC; conserveturtles.org), entidad conocida anteriormente como la Caribbean Conservation Corporation.
La STC tiene su base en Florida, Estados Unidos, pero se encarga a nivel mundial de monitorear y abogar por la conservación de las tortugas marinas. En los años 70, fue la STC quien colaboró con las autoridades costarricenses para crear el Parque Nacional Tortuguero.
El objetivo específico de la STC en el área de Tortuguero, según destaca el organismo en su perfil en Facebook (SeaTurtleConservancyTortuguero), es salvaguardar las poblaciones de tortugas marinas presentes en la playa, a través de la investigación, conservación, educación y protección de los hábitats de los cuales dependen éstas.
Horarios de atención y costo de la entrada al museo de Tortuguero
Visitar el museo de las tortugas será una experiencia gratificante, pues es un libro abierto para conocer los esfuerzos que a diario se realizan para proteger a las tortugas, así como para aprender acerca de la vegetación y los animalesque residen en el Caribe de Costa Rica.
El horario de atención del museo es el siguiente:
- De lunes a domingo, de 10 a.m. a 12 m, y de 2 p.m. a 5:00 p.m.
El boleto de ingreso tiene un costo de $2 para nacionales y extranjeros; este incluye la visita al museo (guiada si se realiza en horas de la tarde) y un video sobre el trabajo de la STC en lo que respecta a la conservación de las tortugas marinas.

- From Monday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The entrance ticket costs $2 for Costa Ricans and foreigners. It includes the visit to the museum (guided if you do it in the afternoon) and a video about the STC and the preservation of sea turtles.
